Athame - (also known as the Air Dagger, Seax, Yag-dirk) a Wiccan's Ritual Magick Knife, identified with The Elements of Air and Fire. It is used to erect Sacred Space, store and direct Energy. THE ATHAME IS NEVER USED FOR CUTTING!!!! In Ritual it is used to raise, direct and manipulate Power within The Sacred Space. The blade

double - edged and never sharpened. The handle is traditionally black or some other dark color in order to absorb and store power. Some Wiccans ( Raymond Buckland among them ) believes that the hilt or blade of an athame should be engraved or decorated by its owner in order to make the tool truely there's. Others, (such as the late Scott Cunningham) believe that the blade should be kept plain.

The Chalice of Transformation - Symbolic of the Goddess and fertility. Corresponds to The Element of Water. Used in the preformance of the symbolic Great Rite at The Altar, also used as an offering cup to The Ancient and Shining Ones, as a cup for use by the High Priest and High Priestess during the Rite of Cakes and Ale at the conclusion of any Ritual or for scrying or visualizing future events during Samhain Sabbat Rituals. It can be made of glass, wood, silver or brass. On my own Altar, I use three Chalices ( one each as an offering cup to The Goddess and The God which are filled daily during my morning meditiations ) and a third which is used in Ritual. Each of them is in the Egyptian style with a plain glass bowl and pewter stems in the form of a winged Isis.
